Just not comfortable for me
I absolutely hate this chair. The material seems good quality but the comfort does not reflect it’s high price tag. The seat is SO thin and hard – little-to-no cushion. The lumbar dug into my back no matter where I positioned it. I instantly got lower back pain sitting in this chair. So thankful that Amazon made it easy to return!!

Something has changed since I bought the same chair in 2022
We loved the first one we bought, exactly two years ago, and still use it. I don’t know if the one we received this time is defective, or whether they’ve change the design, but either way, it’s very uncomfortable and gives both of us back pain and leg cramps. At first we thought that we just need to adjust it better, however 2 months later, it’s still very uncomfortable. I’m not sure if there is any point in replacing it.

Wish I had bought a better desk chair long ago
First of all do not pay anyone to assemble this chair for you…it takes about 30 seconds. In my work office I have Steelcase chairs that are over 40 years old and still are performing well. At home-office I was using inexpensive chairs from Big Box stores. The home-office chairs were not stable enough and rarely tilted over and I found myself on the floor. This made me spend enough money to buy a Steelcase chair. I received it very recently. So far, so good. I very much like this chair. and would buy virtually any Steelcase product with confidence. I also own some Herman Miller office furniture. It also is very good and more expensive than Steelcase. I would definitely choose Steelcase over Herman Miller, no matter what a designer would recommend.

Good chair but the seller needs to keep the price stable.
I like the chair and it is good. However I take one star off because of price variance over time. The price of this chair fluctuate a lot. It is an expensive chair and I guess that the quality should be good and stable. However after I purchase it the price goes from $540 to $700. How come the same chair price vary this much in two weeks ? Is this priced by bitcoin ?

Solid chair, not the most comfortable
This chair is easy to assemble, very sturdy, and is mostly comfortable in its upright position. The problem comes with its reclining feature:First, there is very little tension and it isn’t really adjustable. There are two settings but if you are tall adult male with a healthy weight it will not support you, you’ll just lean back all the way. There is no inbetween setting on the recline either. Secondly even when you do recline it isn’t really ergonomic, for whatever reason it creates a gap between your lower back and the chair when you lean back, putting unnecessary stress on your lower back, something anyone throwing hundreds on a chair is probably hoping to avoid. This is probably a decent task chair, but I’d skip on it if you are looking for something to sit in all day while working.

Good chair – Arrived broken
Just like several other reviewers, my chair arrived with broken plastic pieces that hold the seat depth adjustment in place. This meant that when I would lean back in the chair, the whole seat would just slide right off. really not great!Returning this chair would have been annoying and I needed it for work so I just rigged up a little part to keep it from sliding off, but would have been nice to have gotten a discount or something though. The rate at which this is happening is making me wonder if steelcase is purposely selling defect chairs on amazon, knowing that they’re almost impossible to take apart and ship back and most customers (like myself) will just keep them…

So glad I splurged!
I am so glad I splurged on this! I had looked at Steelcase chairs before and was turned off my the price tag. Working from home during Covid made me realize how much I hated my chair purchased at the big box bulk warehouse chain. Went back to the office and realized I had been sitting in a Steelcase chair for years! So, I bit the bullet and bought this. And every time I sit down at home, I am thankful now!!

Should have spent the money sooner
This is a great chair. The seat is comfortable and the back is supportive. It can go quite low to the ground so my feet can actually sit on the floor and the arm rests can move inward so my arms can rest on them. I should have gotten this chair years ago but I tolerated what was available in my office. When work-from-home started last year, I suffered in a cast-off chair of my husband and felt like a child in a grown up chair. Now I have a chair that fits me (female, 5′ 4″). It was pricy but worth every penny.

Very nice for the professional college student
I purchased this for my son who is in a professional program. He tells me that it provides great support during long hours of study, with the need to get up less frequently. Although a bit pricy, it’s a chair that should last him 10-15 years like my Steelcase chair.

Disappointed!!!
I bought this Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair for my husband as a gift. On the website, it is described as “used but like new”, this is sold and shipped from Amazon, I think it should be guaranteed. when the package arrived, I quickly assembly the chair, but found that I can’t adjust the height of the chair, the Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair is a broken one! No one want to spend 560 dollars to buy a broken chair! And even worse is that I can’t disassemble it and package it in the original box, it means that I have no way to return this expensive and broken Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair?!

The perfect small home office chair
This is definitely the best home office chair I have ever owned and used. I specifically chose this model for the smaller footprint and it works perfectly in my small home office. The chair is very comfortable and supports in every dimension. My best purchase this year.

Seat did not function properly
I would love to say that this chair met our expectations, but it did not. Upon arrival, the seat was already assembled. Once the chair was put together, the seat moved back and forth but there was no catch to keep the seat in it’s place. Upon further inspection, we realized that a mechanism piece was broken off the seat. I inquired about a replacement seat and they sent a replacement chair. The replacement chair also had a broken mechanism. When inquiring about the replacement seat being damaged, they offered to send another chair replacement. I asked for a refund. For the amount of money that was spent on the chair, you would think they were be better quality.

nice chair that arrived broken
I’m a fan of the Steelcase Leap v2 and decided to try their new Series 2 chair. Unfortunately it arrived with two broken tabs under the seat that seem to be related to adjusting the seat in and out. The seat will not stay in any position due to the broken tabs. They were broken off on either side which makes me suspect it may be a design flaw. Unfortunate.

Don’t assemble the chair if you think you might want to return it!
Very disappointed for a $500 chair. Stuff, hard seat, not comfortable at all. Tried to return the chair, could not disassemble the chair, even with factory customer support. Their instruction and videos make it look easy to pop the back off…I’m an Engineer, and mechanically inclined, and once that back is assembled, it’s not coming off. So I have an expensive ‘guest’ chair in my office now.

Terrible product support
The lumbar part of the chair did not show up. Called the manufacturer and they said I have to make a claim through Amazon. There doesn’t appear to be a way to do that. I just want them to send me the piece. I don’t want to send this huge chair back, and get another one. Especially if that one doesn’t have the lumbar support, but there’s no way that I can find out if it will or won’t have it. Maybe if I write a review I can get a hold of someone…

A disappointment and a hassle!
The pneumatic cylinder was unwrapped and rolling around free in the box, I’m guessing this is what damaged the base of the chair. The seat will not stay attached to the base assembly and slides completely off the tracks. Also there were punctures in arm padding, this had to be done prior to packaging because the cardboard covering the armrest is undamaged. Now I’ve got to figure out how to disassemble this piece of crap to send it back.

Fell apart
I bought this chair for my husband to use in his home office. He’s a software engineer who is working from home right now. After a month the mechanism that slides the seat forward and back broke and the chair fell apart while he was sitting in it. He now has a massive bruise & scratches on his back from hitting the chair on the way down. I expected SO MUCH MORE from this very expensive chair.

Not made for the human body
I’m confused as to how anyone could sit in this chair for more than 2 minutes and enjoy it. The seat part itself slopes downward, making you slowly slide out of the chair and forcing you to get up and reposition itself every few minutes. I’ve sat in countless office chairs over the years, most of which were probably cheap $70 Staples chairs, but never in my life have I been this uncomfortable. I boxed it up for a return within 45 minutes.

Buyer beware, dont plan on returning this item
The chair is extremely uncomfortable. The pad was so bad it made my back end hurt after 2 hours in it. This chair is NOT worth $600 I paid for it. So I decided to return it. Guess what? You can’t disassemble it. I took it back to UPS and it cost me an extra $50 to package it. Awful experience. Will probably try a Herman Miller next time.

How can something so expensive be so bad?
Just got the Steelcase Series 2 Office Chair, 3D Microknit Licorice/Cogent Connect Licorice chair.1. Delivery was great,2. easy to put together,3. it was packaged poorly–I also have the crease in the arm,4. worst of all the seat is too short–it is hurting the backs of my legs already, and5. it is going back.

Average chair
I did so much research and studied about chairs that cost between 400-800. I would only recommend this chair if it’s under 450. This is not something I would buy if it’s over 500. The back support is average and arm rests are good but the cushion is below average. However if you have small space this might works well because of light weight and the size.

What a great chair!
I have had this chair for 10 months. I bought because I moved permanently to my home office and I needed something better than the old desk chair. It is great. Great back and shoulder support. Great arm rests. Has really made sitting at home comfortable and enjoyable. Easy to assemble and adjust.

Beware – Returning this to Amazon is almost impossible.
Bought this direct from Amazon. Seemed OK, so I put it together. The lean back feature is an ALL or NOTHING feature. Either locked into straight vertical or in a very loose lean back feature. Even the cheapo chairs have better adjustments on this. Put in for return, BUT you CAN NOT take the chair pack apart without completely dismantling and special tools. VERY frustrating. Called Amazon, not helpful at all. THey said it HAS to be in a box. Where am i going to get a box to fit the assembled chair? Finally used a full roll of packaging tape to build a box… sort of. UPS took it back. I did all this in less than 5 days. Now it has been 15 days SINCE Amazon received it back and no refund of 6 hundred plus dollar chair. Meanwhile they are billing my CC. Not wort it to buy unless you are 100% sure you like it, but good luck finding anywhere to sit in one. Go elsewhere.

1. Simplest Chair I’ve every had to assemble.2. Looks stylish and modern.3. All the moving parts function well and as expected. Plenty of adjustments to fit as needed.4. VERY comfortable for lower lumbar support plus hips. Ergonomics of chair seem to be designed just for that.5. Highly recommend I would certainly buy again.

He says its not cushiony, but he also hasn’t gone back to the old one. Definitely an upgrade according to my dh. He works long days (12+ hours several days/week, seldom less than 10). So from him, this is a ringing endorsement.

Problem
Nice chair for the price but had an issue with one of the legs and wheels. When unpacking the chair base with legs was missing a wheel. I continued to unpack the box and take out all the parts and found the wheel on the bottom of the box loose. I attached the wheel to the base and continue to put the chair together. After completion I stood the chair up I noticed that there was a chip on the top leg where I attached the wheel by hand and not flush like the others. At this point I had to take the chair apart to put it back in the box to return it. Trying to take the chair apart you’re going to need a pipe wrench and a rubber mallet. As other members mentioned this is very hard to do it took myself and a neighbor. I have decided not to take a replacement but purchased a Haworth that just made it America and not Mexico like the Steelcase.

Packaging
I’m guessing this chair had been previously purchased and was returned. The contents were not secured in the box, which may have lead to the dent in the arm. The foam rubber in the chair is permanently indented, which caused the covering to buckle. I’m not that picky, so I’ll live with it, but for $750 the company should exercise more care. As far as my rating for support and ergonomic time will tell. Initial impression is I am happy with the design and structure for better posture.

Great for the price
After having a cheap Amazon Basics chair, getting this chair has been such a relief for my back. I can sit in this chair all day if I want and I don’t feel discomfort that would lead me to stand up or change my workspace. While more expensive chairs have more features, this chair seems to have everything that is essential.

Great Chair for WFH
I can’t speak highly enough about this chair. Super high quality, extremely easy to assemble (watch the video), and extremely comfortable. Don’t be fooled by some of the cheaper options promoted on Amazon. Many of them are of very poor quality and won’t be a viable option for anyone that is using the chair all day while in WFH mode. Highly recommend Steelcase!

Solid Mid-Range WFH Choice
At the beginning of the pandemic, thinking WFH would only last for a few weeks, I “splurged” and bought myself a $50 desk chair! Two years and one aching back later, I decided it was time for an upgrade, but couldn’t bring myself to spend the really big bucks on the top of the line Steelcase or Herman Miller chairs. It’s only been one day but so far I am very satisfied with this much less expensive (but still not cheap!) choice. It seems like one of Steelcase’s entry level ergonomic choices, but it’s very solid and really does seem to have a comfortable seat, supportive back (with an adjustable lumbar support), and nice adjustable padded armrests. With the help of the assembly video on Amazon’s website, putting it together was easy, and only took a few minutes. The adjustment instructions that come with the chair are easy to follow and allow you to kind of customize the chair to fit your size and preferences. It really makes a big difference. So far so good!

Great overall chair
Saved $150 from the same combination via the Steelcase website. While not the miracle of my $1700 steelcase chair, very good for the cost and works for my 1 day a week working from home as well as gaming. I do wish the Series 2 had a locking back rest or at least some more tension while leaning back. If you’re over 210 lbs the lean feature is useless and I have to lock it in place fully upright. I do lean backwards sometimes in games but it goes all the way back. Overall a very affordable Steelcase and the ergonimics are much better than most chairs in this price bracket.

If you sit all day in your home office… don’t skimp on a chair.
First, I was a bit nervous. Didn’t see the box of screws and nuts that always come with things like computer tables and chairs. Nothing. Searched really well… Then went on the internet and watched the instructions… No screws, nuts… just snap together. Great. We use this chair in our conference rooms at work so I am familiar with how comfortable they are. I’ve got the model up from this one at my desk at work, but couldn’t see enough difference in how they feel, when I am at work, to justify spending more. This is just great for the home office and for gaming after hours. Comfortable, supportive, light weight, and the mesh back will really keep me from sticking to the chair in the hot summer months. Love the Steelcase chair i have at work, and now at home.

could be so much better
I’ve now had this chair for little over two years now and started running into problems with right after the year long mark. Aside from the seat itself not being comfy in the slightest, the arms on my chair at that base broke off. After looking at them a lil more, the material made around the arms and the screws going into the base are flimsy and overall terribly made and put together. Would not recommend this chair for anyone that spends a decent amount of time in it

The best bang for the buck !
I’ve tried many chairs, and ordered many more ! In my case I had a situation where1. My desk’s height is 30 inches2. I am 5’10″3. my back sweats when sitting in non-vented chairs.I had a mesh chair to address #3 , and the Amia from steelcase. It was difficult to find a chair with the right adjustability + breathable back support to address all these issues, while being well built, built in a country not involved in human rights violations AND not too expensive. But then I found the Series 2 from steelcase, and so far (day 1) I can’t be happier !I’ll keep this review updated ! but I am excited about this chair, and can’t wait to enjoy my work using it!

Don’t bother with this chair
Honestly the chair is fine. It’s comfortable and good looking, but that’s about where the positivity ends. I had a horrendous time with my purchase and assembly (and disassembly) of the chair. There are other reviews that outline the same issues I had.First actually focusing on this chair and then my terrible experience below…There just aren’t a lot of features on this chair for something that costs close to $600. There is no locking recline, the lumbar support doesn’t do much, the chair feels solid but cheap at the same time. Honestly, I would not recommend this chair to anyone. Instead save a few hundred dollars and buy and a brand without the name, because that’s all you are getting here. You are simply paying for the name. Especially if you are not 100% set on this chair, because if you want to return it…well, read below. On my first chair the switch to raise/lower the chair was broken, so I asked for a replacement and needed to ship back my first order. GOOD LUCK try to disassemble this chair to ship it back. I spent HOURS trying to disassemble it only to give up and eventually tape multiple XL boxes together because the chair was too large to fit into a single and it needed to be “packaged” in order to return it. The replacement chair I received then had a different part that was broken on it (the switch to lock the sliding seat in place). Luckily I just decided to Frankenstein the working part from my original chair with the new one that I received before I had the mailed back the broken chair.Overall, just don’t bother with this chair. There are cheaper brands that look just as nice with better features available.
