Looks like brand new, works like a charm
I recently purchased this used SAMSUNG T7 Portable SSD, 1TB External Solid State Drive, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and value. Although it’s a used product, it looks and functions like new, which saved me some bucks without compromising quality. The drive comes with two cables – a USB to Type-C and a Type-C to Type-C – providing flexibility for different devices and it saves the need for additional purchases. further more, it highly portable and convenient for on-the-go use, and it transferring large files is a breeze, I am amazed to see 700M/S in my computer.

Light, small, quick—and 2TB!!
For the last 6-8 years I’d been using Thunderbolt 2, 3, and 4 (7200rpm 4-disc RAID 5). And it turns out that this affordable USB 3.2 (10GB/sec) SSD is almost as fast as those TB RAIDs.

The perfect thing to hold all my pictures
I constantly have run out of storage on my devices because of all the photos I have. This is a great thing to have to backup all file, photos, etc. It’s easy to use and you are provided with two cords depending on if you have an Android or iPhone. The quality is great, no problems with it not working.

Great security
I’m not the most tech savvy and wanted backup on an external drive for graphics heavy work and photos. I remember the challenge of making my last external drive compatible and especially deleting old files, so I was a little anxious trying to find a solution. In case it helps someone else, I work primarily on an iPad Pro in a design program (Affinity) and needed a backup storage solution besides the Cloud. I didn’t really want a second cloud solution to be backup and can’t use an external drive with the iPad. I also have a MacBook, which has massive storage, but can’t be backed up to ICloud, while the ipad can backup to iCloud. My workaround for immediate file saving is to create shared files which are stored on iCloud (I call them Desktop) on the ipad. Desktop is stored on the hard drive of the MacBook and gets updated via ICloud device sharing even though I can’t initiate an iCloud backup from the MacBook.Inside Desktop I have labeled files as usual and a parent file for graphic design from the Ipad, broken down into 100+ named project files and sub files. Whenever I save from the ipad, I save to Desktop (in iCloud) and then choose the appropriate file within Desktop to save. This way I have the folders on the hard drive of the MacBook as interim backup, and am working around not having iCloud backup storage available when I’m on the MacBook. The T7 comes in as secure and portable physical data storage. The T7 drive is the hard copy backup of the files shared between the iPad and MacBook, I think necessary in case of some dreadful software issue, fire, or other unanticipated loss of access. I plan to have more than one as soon as I can afford it, to rotate.Again hopefully this may help someone like me who spent some solid hours figuring out a better way to secure my data and workaround the Mac user experience.Since I am wanted to do manual backups I needed the process to be easy so I wouldn’t avoid doing them, for obvious reasons. Though we don’t need to get into it here I don’t want to use Time Machine on my Mac to back up the disk. So I had to figure out something else. The T7 is great, easy to use, no time at all to install, self explanatory pretty much. I dragged folders full of work from the desktop (yes I like to see them, don’t judge) to backup. The initial backup was very quick and painless, most files were a few seconds. The graphics heavy files perhaps took about 10 minutes? These are massive, not a problem, and may have been quicker than this, I expected it to take more time. (My last iCloud backup was over 13 hours of anxiety – I kid you not and have since deleted almost all the working files from the drawing app after saving them in Desktop so they happen more quickly now, but still, I thought this was a daylong project). I experimented with dragging an old file to the trash from the T7 disk pane, and it worked as expected. I had to read online about how to go about copying my photos library (Mac) to disk, but it wasn’t hard. I have over 40,000 images, and it took about 20 minutes as I recall, if longer probably max 25. I tested the backup by remaining in the open pane and opening the photo files, which worked. Amazingly all this data barely touches the capacity of the drive, maybe 10% or less of a TB? Minuscule, anyway. 2 TB is overkill for me, especially since old files can easily be deleted.(This may be different for a user in Time Machine because it keeps multiple versions of your backups, and maybe more settings etc. which can take up a lot of space?- not tech savvy, as I said, but I had trouble with my older system and Time Machine and being unable to delete backups which rendered my backup disk unusable, and I didn’t want to deal with this again even though it’s less convenient to do it manually).I think the T7 drive will fail before I need more space, which is a great problem to have. I’m planning to get another disk (with less storage) and use it as a failsafe backup- ideally storing it in a safe or out of the house just in case, and keeping a rotation to protect against loss.On the critical end, I’d love it and think it would be much safer for data if the user pane of the T7 was visibly different from the one on my desktop. It’s the same color, font, everything, as my desktop window (maybe that’s just how these things work?), which makes me triple check when I’m deleting or updating. Don’t do this on a Friday night after an adult beverage….I’d also love it if there was a simple tutorial available when you opened the disk up, just for ease of first use, a how to (experimented with a throwaway file deleting because it wasn’t obvious that dragging files to the trash would work) for most, and as a reminder for others. I hesitate getting one for my parents because of this. But I’m happy and will buy another, looking forward to the peace of mind it gives me.

Very nice, very fast; my new preferred drive
I formatted this with ExFAT, because I needed to use it with Mac, Linux, and Windows.Unlike most USB drives I have tested, this drive doesn’t seem to throttle down the write speed with small files. That is very good. With 1000 samples of 10 MiB each it averaged a write rate of 410 MiB/sec and a read rate of 440 MiB/sec. I did that 3 times in succession, with the same result. That is with a USB-3 port. With large files, writing did slow down somewhat, but it’s still fast. With 100 samples of 1000 MiB samples each, the write speed throttled down from 460 MB/sec to a steady rate of about 250 MiB/sec, after about 11 to 21 GB. It remained at that speed for the duration of the 100 GB test. That is still very fast, and you can fill the whole drive with a backup in a fairly short time. The read rate remained the same.I think this will be my new preferred drive.(Tested with Gnome Disk Utility UDisk 2.7.6)

High quality, period.
Got this 2 TB SSD at $149 which was a steal. Flawless setup. I hooked it up to my mobile device and instantly went to the most compatible app to use it on. Then hooked it up to my PC and the PC had a little bit more of a install but nonetheless it went smoothly. Easily transferred photos and some videos to the SSD for my mobile device just to see how it would play on my PC and it was great. So much memory that this might be the only one I ever need to purchase.

Great buy on an outstanding product
If you’ve ever used a regular external backup drive you know they are made with laptop HDDs. This solid state drive is not only (by comparison) much smaller and easy to store / carry around, it’s lightning fast compared to older, larger drives. Once you use this solid state drive, you’ll be ruined for life. Samsung is known for reliability and quality and this T7 is both and at a good price too. Hats off to Samsung for a clearly superior product. I highly recommend this to friends and family.

Use for Gaming, No Complaints
I purchased this ssd external drive to use for gaming. I play forza on my computer so much of my internal ssd is taken up by that and the xbox app.I loaded all my offline games and a good handful of online ones and it works great- so far no issues with connectivity or data sending. When you first plug it in, it installs management software which I really like. It gives you a run down of the memory, drive, and performance. This also allows it to be recognized immediately when plugging into play a game. I don’t have to manually open the drive to make sure it is seeing the games. If I need more space, I will definitely be purchasing another one of these ssd.

Great for storing too many photos from ipad
I overran my ipad’s storage with too many photos. This drive comes with a cord able to power the drive from the ipad’s USB-C port. It’s pretty fast to transfer the files (split the screen, open the Files and Photos apps, select (I do around 1500 at a time) and drag). At some point, the process bogs down, and I move the files from the T7 to my Mac’s hard drive (iCloud would be easier, but I don’t use it). Then I erase all the files from the T7 and resume. I’m happy with this purchase.

Excellent!
This is a fantastic purchase! The package was delivered promptly and very secure. Its one of the few packages from amazon that i have recieved that the original manufacture packaging was intact and untouched. This SSD is a solid purchase for anyone looking for backup or any type of expansion. I did a full backup of important files on my 10 year old Dell laptop (pictured in the background). It wrote 277 gb of files in an hour. That was astounding considering it was still taking an average 35mbps download speed off of the original 10 year old hdd that is still in my laptop. The SSD itself is capable of read and write speeds way higher than that but I am limited to my internal hdd speeds from my Dell. Samsung is top notch and even the construction of this thing is aluminum and feels built very well in a very small package! It got warm to the touch a few times in the total hour of dowloads but without a hiccup. 10/10! I’ll be purchasing again!

No Problems With Samsung External Drives…..But There’s A Simple Reason
For over 10 years I’ve been using Samsung external drives to store my music, pictures and movies. I began with T3 500GB units and then upgraded to the T5 1TB several years ago. In 2021 I began using T7 1TB SSDs and they have all performed flawlessly. Even during massive data transfers of hundreds of GBs there has been no loss or corruption of any data and no unit has become very warm to the touch. I just recently began using T7 4TB SSDs to consolidate some of my data and again they are working well -the T7 4TB units became very warm to the touch, but not hot -and this was during a transfer of almost 3TB. All of these Drives have been recognized and integrated well with both my Windows and Apple laptops. I need to mention at this point that I NEVER used any of the Samsung software included with the units. In fact, the first thing I did with each drive was delete the included software -no passwords or encryption or special set ups or anything -just plug in and use. Now again I’m just storing my large collection of music, pictures and movies (vacation and other) which gets bigger every year. Perhaps if I were storing or transferring sensitive data for work or whatever then passwords and encryption and special set ups might be necessary. But I don’t need it for my application and I’ve had zero problems -in fact even the T3 500GB units are still working fine after over 10 years of use and a great many erase/write sessions.BTW over the years I’ve accidentally dropped several of these drives onto my hardwood floors and they have all survived just fine.

Worth it
I use Samsung SSDs in my computer and when I needed a large external, I bought this. Unlike some of the competitor versions, this one comes with the necessary cables for USB. Even though I have a slew of these already, it was a nice touch not to have to fish for the right cable. Speed was as posted and build quality is very good. About the size of a credit card, and about 1/4″ thick it makes physical storage easy as well. I have bunches of odd size external storage but will be switching over to these since they are both reliable and convenient.

Tesla Sentry for Model Y
This works great as a larger storage unit in Tesla model y. Be sure to format as exFAT and create the folder name.Format the USB drive as exFAT, MS-DOS FAT (for Mac), ext3, or ext4 (NTFS is currently not supported).Create a base-level folder titled TeslaCam. You can use one USB drive for Dashcam, Sentry Mode, and audio files, but you must create separate partitions or folders on the exFAT USB drive.Once formatted, insert the drive into the glovebox USB port (if equipped), otherwise use a front USB port in the center console. Do not use a rear USB port because they can only charge devices. It may take a few seconds for your Tesla to recognize the USB drive.Once recognized, ensure icons for Dashcam and Sentry Mode are available when you touch Controls. The drive is now ready to record videos.

Fast, Economical Storage for Your Data
My new Samsung T7 Portable SSD has no moving parts and it’s fast. Back ups are easy and it works with my Mac with no glitches or hassles. I love the color and the fact that I have a choice in color. I love the red…It’s easy to spot on a cluttered work area or amid an array of black, space gray and other dark colored electronic equipment and cables. When I’m finished with my drive, I can put in a matching case and not misplace either one. The small size of this item also helps cut down on electronic clutter uses in a work area. The speed of this little drive makes back ups a lot less of time consuming. I am more apt to do the back up when my Mac tells me a need to rather than ignore it and let it whine about my missing the one thing we should all do frequently. Back up! This little drive is at least half the size smaller than my older 2TB drive.

Fast
I had a drive failure scare, which turned out to be a bad cable. The incident made it really clear I needed a drive to back up critical data. My friend recommended the Samsung brand. This is my first experience with the brand, but if things continue to go as well as they have, it will not be my last. I was not really looking for extra or improved features but am really happy with the unanticipated speed improvement. I run apps from the external drive and the load speed improvement was very noticeable.

This SSD “Just Works”
This is at least my third (maybe fourth) Samsung SSD. I’m a repeat buyer because they “just work”. And they work great. I use them for file backups as well as Apple’s Time Machine backups for my computers. I also offload archived files to them. I’ve never had a failure in all the years I’ve been using Samsung SSDs. I still use my original Samsung SSD (a T5), and I’ve added the subsequent SSDs as my files have grown.

Works great with Windows and Ubuntu Linux!
I got this to share files and VMs between my work windows machine and my home Ubuntu machine. Though I have network issues with VMs when switching, I think this is a VMWare Workstation issue nothing to do with the drive.I did not use any of the software that was on the drive, nor encrypt it as I knew I would be switching back and forth between OSes. I don’t plan to save private info, mostly just my lab stuff. Both OSes, recognized the drive and was available without intervention! Oh, I use the USB-C to USB-C on work computer, and USB-C to USB 3 type A on home system.

You don’t have to think about it.
This is a product that has been in my experience one that I don’t have to think about. It just works. I use it as a backup for my data drive and remove the drive from the location in case of fire/flood/damage. It is perfect for that in that it is fast and very compact. The first one I had was a smaller capacity and was getting too full to continue to be of any use. The new and larger one will serve my needs for at least a few years when I anticipate replacing it with a similar and even larger capacity unit. The case is well manufactured and feels substantial. The USB port is of high quality. Buy one and I predict you won’t have to think about it!Paul

Great disk! But not so much if you use macOS
I recently purchased the Samsung 2TB Portable SSD, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my tech setup. The file transfer speeds are lightning fast, making it incredibly efficient for large backups and day-to-day use. Its compact size and portability are perfect for those who need storage on the go, and the build quality feels premium, with durable materials that give you confidence in its longevity.I bought this SSD primarily to use as a “Time Machine” backup. After years of struggling to find a reliable way to store my growing collection of digital assets, this SSD feels like the perfect solution. It offers peace of mind, knowing I can keep all my important files in one secure place without having to rely on cloud services like iCloud, OneDrive, or Google Photos, which I’ve always been wary of due to privacy concerns. With this drive, I now have full control over my data, and I’m confident it will keep everything safe. That said, there is one notable downside: the included Samsung Magician software. The drive features built-in encryption, which is fantastic for keeping data safe in case of theft or loss. However, if you’re using macOS, be prepared for a cumbersome installation and uninstallation process. It requires you to disable certain security features directly from your Mac’s boot screen, which adds an extra layer of hassle (and could compromise security). The uninstallation process is equally frustrating, as it doesn’t follow the typical drag-and-drop method of most Mac apps. I really hope Samsung improves the user experience for macOS users in future software updates.Lastly, a heads-up for those using Windows on ARM devices: Samsung Magician won’t work at all. This is a real shame for users in that ecosystem, and I hope compatibility improves down the line.

5 stars for a reason
This external drive works flawlessly. Download speeds are excellent and the drive gets only barely warm.Uploaded videos play smoothly. Exactly what i was looking for and the price is great for what you get.

Fast speed and very portable
This drive is even smaller than I expected – about the size of 6 credit cards stacked together. It has a sleek, smooth finish and comes with two cable options (USB C and standard USB A). This is my 3rd Samsung external SSD and I have to say that their quality is fantastic. The read/write speeds are fast – transferring 10 to 30 gigs at a time just flys (sorry I don’t have exact numbers), but I don’t use these for editing/recording video directly off of them. I’m very happy with this drive!

I like it so far
It transfers data fast and I can play Alan Wake 2 from it without lose of graphics quality (just a few second more in terms of loading) and that game is very graphic heavy so in my book that’s a win.

Easy to use and reliable
I bought 2 of these and they worked really well. Were easy to set up and use to backup data and transfer from another backup. Nice small footprint. Highly recommend.
